The 2:27 PM Caller Could Have Been Transferred from Autotrader to Teresa Halbach's Phone; Dan of H&H Color Lab May Have Been Teresa's Nuisance Caller

The "Minutes Used" report that was printed from Teresa's Cingular account online wouldn’t show calls that went directly to voicemail because the messages don’t use minutes unless you call from your cell to playback the messages.

Why would Teresa answer a call from 414-425-8712 at 2:27 PM on October 31st? Her practice since porting her number from Verizon to Cingular was to let calls go to voicemail, and then she would check her messages and return calls.

Although the number is similar to Autotrader's number, it is/was not one of the company's published numbers.

Autotrader's numbers at the time were:
The numbers on the Autotrader magazine cover:

414-425-8675
877-425-7653

Autotrader called Teresa from two other 414 numbers (per Teresa's AT&T records):
414-425-8736
414-425-8738

Autotrader's fax:

414-428-8743
Someone called Autotrader's toll free number at 2:23 PM on October 31st from 920-980-1866 (see image below), which is a United States Cellular Corp mobile number in the city and county of Sheboygan, where Teresa had spent the morning of October 31st doing photo shoots for Autotrader.

Did Autotrader transfer the call from the mobile phone 920-980-1866 to Teresa's cell phone (2:23 + 3.5 minutes = the 2:27 PM incoming call from 414-425-8712 to Teresa's cell phone)?

This would explain why the number 414-425-8712 is similar to Autotrader's published numbers.

The person who Teresa talked to for five minutes starting at 2:27 PM could have been the person who called Autotrader's toll free number at 2:23 PM (see image below).

After being on the phone with Autotrader for 3.5 minutes, was the caller transferred to Teresa's cell phone (the 2:27 PM incoming call from 414-425-8712)?

The first incoming call from 414-425-8712 to Teresa Halbach's Cingular cell phone was on September 12, 2005, also a Monday, and the caller left a message (image above). Teresa never called the number 414-425-8712.

After accessing Teresa Halbach's online Cingular account and printing the "Minutes Used" report, at 6:24 PM on November 3rd, Ryan Hillegas called the number listed for the 2:27 PM caller (image above). What did he learn about this phone number when he made this call?

We know that Ryan called Teresa's parents at 6:38 PM on November 3rd (page 1 of CASO lists phone number xxx-xxx-1998 as belonging to Teresa's parents). If Teresa's parents were at Teresa's home when Ryan called them at 6:38 PM on November 3rd, then Ryan was somewhere else at 6:38 PM. We know Ryan left Teresa's home on November 3rd because Kelly, who arrived around 5:30 PM, called Ryan at 7:18 PM, so if Kelly was at Teresa's home then Ryan was somewhere else at 7:18 PM.

TERESA HALBACH'S VISITS TO AVERY SALVAGE YARD

Counting October 31, 2005, Teresa visited Avery Salvage Yard at least six times (per Angela Schuster's testimony):

1. June 20, 2005
2. August 22, 2005
3. August 29, 2005
4. September 19, 2005
5. October 10, 2005
6. October 31, 2005

Dan of H&H Color Lab called Teresa 17 times between July 11th and November 1st from 816-178-1180, all with the same codes, or lack thereof, as listed on the AT&T report (cell code 309 and no CIC or originating account code).

Dan's are the only calls with cell code 309.

In the voicemail that Dan left when he called at 2:41 PM on October 31st (VM ending at 2:43 PM), he left the callback number of 800-821-1305, ext 173, per Fassbender. The toll free number 800-821-1305 is valid, and it is the number listed online for H&H Color Lab.

Fassbender wrote that Dan called Teresa on November 1st and left the 9:51 VM, and called again on November 2nd and left the 2:28 VM (there are no incoming numbers on the report for either of these calls).

The phone number 816-178-1180 does not belong to H&H Color Lab.

It is not a valid number.

Holly Okkerse wrote at YouTube: This all happened about an hour and a half from where I live. I vividly remember seeing the news reports when she went missing and the trial coverage. Didn’t know Teresa but I know a few people who did. I was told Teresa had a funny wit and a very caring personality. She was there for anyone in need of a friend or a confidant.πŸ’™ #LiveLifeLikeTeresa πŸ’™

Teresa had a nuisance caller, per her business partner, Tom Pearce.

Was Dan from H&H Color Lab Teresa's nuisance caller?

Per the report by CASO's Lemieux (page 4):
PEARCE did say TERESA had mentioned she had been receiving multiple calls, from an unfamiliar number, to her cell phone recently. The caller would never leave a message. PEARCE said as far as he knew, TERESA had not answered any of those calls and did not know the caller. PEARCE said he remembered one day her commenting when the phone rang, again the same number, they just called five minutes ago. PEARCE said TERESA said she did not recognize the number and did not answer.
Per the report by CASO's Dedering (page 49):
PEARCE indicated he does not have a fax machine on his premises. He indicated TERESA was provided with a fax machine by AUTO TRADER. He stated TERESA would fax in the amount of work or contacts she had in the course of a business day to AUTO TRADER; and she would be paid according to the contacts from the faxes. PEARCE went on to indicate that recently TERESA had been receiving a lot of telephone calls that she would not answer. THOMAS indicated that these phone calls would have no message and apparently were coming from a phone number she did not recognize. PEARCE indicated that TERESA told him that someone keeps calling and not leaving a message. TERESA stated, "I won't call them back." THOMAS indicated that it appeared as though TERESA did not know who was calling. He stated that this began in early to mid summer, there was a break in this routine and then approximately three weeks ago, this started again. THOMAS believed that the phone calls were always originating from the same number. THOMAS indicated if TERESA was upset by these calls, she didn't let on that it did upset her.
Pearce's testimony at Avery's trial (page 208) contradicts the CASO reports about the nuisance caller (Teresa knew who it was and recognized the number):
Q. Okay. About three weeks before she disappeared, Teresa Halbach, you were aware, had been getting a lot of telephone calls that she was not answering on the cell phone?

A. Yes, sir.

Q. They would leave no message?

A. If you are referring to the same thing, I think, she was standing almost right next to me, in a day, and she got this phone call. And she looked at it and went, said, oh, not them again, or not him again, and just kind of forgot about it. She looked a little upset, so I questioned her a little bit about this and she told me, just forget about it. Somebody keeps calling her all different hours, a nuisance call. And that was about two or three weeks and she had mentioned that she had been getting them for awhile; and I had said, well, why don't you give me the number and I will call and find out instead of her dealing with it and she said, no, don't worry about it. But that's, I think, what you're talking about.

Q. Right. And whatever the number was that came up on the phone, she recognized it?

A. Yeah, she knew what it was, but she wouldn't let me know.
It appears as if Dan Gallaher, customer service manager at H&H Color Lab, spoofed his caller ID when he called Teresa. This may have been his practice when using his personal phone for business purposes.

All of Dan's calls to Teresa's cell phone (from July 11th through November 1st) used the invalid phone number 816-178-1180 as the originating number (all these calls had a cell code of 309, the only calls on Teresa's AT&T report with this cell code).

The last time Teresa answered a call from Dan was on October 26th. She did not answer his other calls or reply to messages he left in her voicemail box around this time period, including a third call from him on September 30th and calls from him on October 14th, October 21st and October 31st (he also called on November 1st and 2nd, after she went missing).

At the time of Teresa's disappearance, Dan was 48 and divorced (he died on November 25, 2012, following a battle with cancer).

From H&H Color Lab blog, posted on December 18th, 2014, in Photo Lab Post:
The tradition started many years ago with Patty Shaw and Dan Gallaher—getting H&H team members together after work and making blankets to donate to Project Warmth. For those of you who didn’t have the privilege of knowing Dan or Patty, they started this tradition of making blankets about six years ago. They both passed away after battling cancer, but the tradition at H&H lives on in their honor! Thursday, December 4th after work, H&H team members gathered in the classroom for fun, fellowship and blanket making! There was no sewing involved—just cutting and tying. Along with cutting and tying blankets, eating nachos and Christmas cookies, everyone watched a Christmas movie while making their blankets, adding to the spirit of the evening.

The 2:41 PM call on October 31, 2005 from Dan of H&H Color Lab, according to Fassbender, was listed as CFNA on the faxed Cingular report (trial exhibit 361).

Hi, I am a cell technician. I have worked for a few different companies, including Sprint, and I currently work for a company that support about 4 different technology types.

CFNA (means Call Forward No Answer)

All calls to your cell phone have the feature (if you don't answer the calls, it then automatically gets forwarded to your voicemail number, which is housed in your VLR at the switch).

So every time you get a get on call on your cell and don't answer, it goes to the number programmed into your phone [in Teresa's case, 414-534-0037] or the VLR in the carrier's switch.

Typically the time it takes before routing to voicemail automatically in a CDMA network is 18 seconds, and with GSM it is usually 20 seconds -- adjusting this is known as call forward variable (so it is possible Teresa could have increased the ring time manually).

Now, typically, the VM number is a general "open tree" number setup by the carrier, where the system usually finds your voicebox by the MDN, but a subscriber could change it either through the phone settings or directly by entering a network code (usually * and # numbers depending on the type of network).

I am not sure how Cingular describes it on the statement (if this means it is manually engaged or just a regular VM Call) -- it definitely means the 2:41 PM incoming call routed to Teresa's phone. Teresa avoided answering it so it forwarded to the voicemail, which is normally provided by the cell phone carrier. This number can also be changed in the phone calls settings and, in some cases, the user can hit an ignore button.

I am wondering because the feature shows CFNA in the phone records and it might have been initiated from a function on the phone (see page 61):

http://www.motorola.com/mdirect/manuals/V3i_9504A48O.pdf

Now, this is an interesting problem: did she use "call deny" or did her phone just roll to VM?

The 2:41 PM CFNA call was the second call terminating in voicemail on the afternoon of 10/31/2005.

The first, which was not a CFNA call, was at 1:52 PM (920-227-8985, a call from Connie Thompson, per Fassbender).
It appears to me from the voicemail records that the 2:41 PM call was made was from a mobile phone (perhaps a Cingular mobile phone).

Do mobile-to-mobile on the same network, Cingular-to-Cingular client, show CFNA? This could account for why some Cingular agents claim this is a call made from the cell itself?

Was the 2:41 PM call a manual "call deny"? Clearly the 2:41 PM call is the last call ever received by this phone while it was on, so what happened after 2:41 PM. Who called that Teresa didn't want to speak with?

Now I have seen other threads on the subject, and former Cingular client care agents claim that it is possible that Teresa made the call from the phone to her VM, and this shows as CFNA at Cingular.

If we look at her voicemail records:

Message ID: 1381326847 was received at 14:43 and is a duration of 60 seconds. So that means that we have a call time of 20 seconds (which is the default length of time that a phone rings for a Siemens GSM network before rolling to VM) and then a 60 second VM. So the total call time is 1:20, which jives with the call record statement. Furthermore, if we look at the call coming in at 14:41 + 1:20 = 14:42.20 or by the minute -- 14:43 the message is deposited.

This is proof of an incoming call going to VM. If TH had simply accessed the VM for her handset, she would not have left herself a message.

Has Kathleen Zellner found experts to interpret the simultaneous calls (double entries on the AT&T report) that don't use minutes (click on image above to enlarge)?

Do the calls allegedly from Dan of H&H Color Lab not use minutes because the caller was using a Cingular cell phone and was spoofing his caller ID?

Teresa ported her cell phone number 920-737-4731 from Verizon to Cingular on August 30, 2005.

If the caller used a Cingular cell phone to make his calls to Teresa's cell phone, then they were mobile-to-mobile calls beginning on August 30th.

There is a Cingular mobile phone number associated with Dan and his former wife, Diane Hadley (who has many aliases).

My conclusion is that Kathleen Zellner can get answers to all of our lingering questions and guesses at how the phone records work. How could she not find experts that understand how to interpret these simultaneous calls and why they don't use minutes.

Zellner knows the Denise Coakley call exists even though it is not in the AT&T records, and she had experts to explain how the records work.

I think there is truth in the phone records that will set Steven Avery free. I just don't have quite enough pieces to say what that truth is exactly yet, and Zellner is not sharing those pieces with me. (And why would she share those pieces with a random anonymous redditor.)

Also, I would say that, to begin with, LE was genuinely looking at the "minutes used" report.

I would speculate that Ryan Hillegas did modify that very last "minutes used" record (the 2:27 PM incoming call) that has no reasonable link to the AT&T records. And, as soon as LE received the subpoenaed phone records, LE knew Ryan did it [killed Teresa] because of his phone record manipulation. However, LE already had their sights on Steven Avery, and it solved too many problems to change course.

The 2:41 call on 10/31 IS shown on the Cingular report originally entered as evidence at trial.

On the Cingular report, that call is noted as CFNA. CFNA is only shown on that Cingular report, not on the AT&T report.

However, that CALL is on both reports.

On the AT&T report, THAT same call is noted with the 309 call code. It is one of the double-lined items. These double-lined items show originating number 1180 going to 4731. Then on the next line, at the same exact time, it is originating number 4731 going to 0037 voicemail.

I called the 1180 number. Cannot be completed as dialed. When I reverse search, it appears as though it is not a real number, as others have stated.

This is the message I get at whitepages dot com: "The subscriber number for the given number is invalid."

The 816 area code is from MO, however, I don't think normal phone numbers start with a 1.... the full number is 816-178-1180. Invalid as far as I can tell.

[–]knowfere[S]

Wherever this number originates from, I am certain they are forwarded calls.

The forwarded calls originating from 816-178-1180:

1. Sometimes TH answers, which is demonstrated by the single-line items of varying durations.

2. Sometimes it goes to voicemail, which is demonstrated by the double-line items that terminate at her voicemail.

[–]Shamrockholmes9

Is it possible these are calls forwarded from her office at Pierce Photography [or by Autotrader]? As in, a customer calls that office and either TH has call forwarding set up [or Autotrader forwards from their office phone to TH's cell phone].

[–]knowfere[S]

I would say it is quite possible, only thing is, what is this 1180 number? It's not a valid phone number...so I'm wondering if it's some kind of pass-thru number for forwarded calls.

What else could be explanation be for the 309 code on AT&T records for every one of those 1180 calls?

The Cingular report lists the 2:41 10/31 call a CFNA. This call on AT&T's records is a 309 code, with the 1180 originating number

So it is safe to assume that all those 309 coded calls are CFNA. No?

[–]cannotsleep_jr

LE says it’s the color lab. I have seen no evidence that it is actually the color lab. It is an area code and prefix combo that does not exist.

[–]Rasmosus

Also, a suspicious call was placed at 22:59 UTC on November 1st. Since Wisconsin time is lagging by 6 hours relative to UTC (and daylight saving time had ended), the call was placed at 16:59 -- or 4:59 PM central time.

It's on the last page of Fassbender's voicemail report: #7 of OLD messages, which means that someone listened to all of these OLD messages.
Message ID No. 457350911, regarding a message received on November 1, 2005, at 5:00
p.m. There was no incoming number listed. This was a call from a male subject pertaining to Visa/Master Card Processing and he left a number of 800-882-4892.
[–]cannotsleep_jr

I thought it looked like a call to voicemail from her phone too on 11/1!! Fassbender says this is a call from MasterCard/Visa, which I think is why that call hasn't been examined closely. I think the VM records are falsified (my post).

I too am curious about the simultaneous calls.

That 1180 call is the call from an area code and prefix that doesn't exist. It seems to me that it is a caller trying to hide identity by typing a false return number.

[–]Harrison1963

If her voicemail was indeed accessed from her phone on the 1st of November then it could not have been burned in the alleged fire on the 31st with her body.

[–]revvedup001

The one touch feature on TH phone had a security flaw that was known about by the networks and ignored for years: PIN not required to access VM from the user's phone, and call spoofing also bypassed the need for a PIN.

During the mid-2000s, it was discovered that calls emanating from the handset registered against a voicemail account were being put straight through to voicemail without the need of a PIN.

A hacker could use caller ID spoofing to impersonate a target's handset caller ID and thereby gain access to the associated voicemail without a PIN.

This is from the Wiki page:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phone_hacking

[–]knowfere[S]

Good find. Highly doubtful Steven Avery knew how to do this tho. Which still means that either someone accessed her VM with her actual phone or they knew that phone was inoperable and accessed it using spoofing/hacking into it.

[–]4jstce

"I noticed that...on 11/1 someone accesses her voice mail FROM HER OWN PHONE."

The times in the list of Teresa's phone activity at the top of the image above are UTC and have to be adjusted to the Central Time Zone (US). First, convert UTC from the 24-hour format to the 12-hour format. Then, for CST (calls on or after 10/31/2005), subtract 6 hours.

How to Spoof Your Caller ID

Between 2004 and today, dozens and dozens of Caller ID spoofing companies have been established to meet this incredible need for people to spoof their phone numbers.

SpoofCard is one of the biggest and oldest, and it offers a free test drive of its service. Enter your number, the number you want to call, and the number you want to be displayed on their website widget to place the call. This is the service I used to place a call supposedly from 867-5309, you know, from Jenny in that song (SpoofCard unfortunately doesn't let you enter in a Caller ID name).

SpoofCard and other services like it work like a calling card, if you've ever used one of those. You dial a number provided to you by the service and then enter an access code or PIN number, plus the recipient's number and your fake caller ID. Also like phone calling cards, you buy credits, starting at $4.95 for 25 credits (1 minute per credit).

Spoofingcards.com has a table comparing SpoofCard with Bluff My Call and Stealth Card, two other services in this space. There are several other providers, and they all seem to work pretty similarly, many with mobile apps so you can spoof away from your cell phone.

My advice, if you're going to do this, is to try out the service first if it offers a free call. I tried out SpoofTel, which offers a free trial and also lets you enter in a display name to be shown in Caller ID, but the call came in as "Unknown" to my phone, which pretty much defeated the purpose. Good thing it wasn't a really critical call I needed to get through to myself.

Caller ID spoofing is arguably one of the larger reasons behind the of nearly 3 billion unwanted spam and telemarketing calls placed to mobile phones each month in the United States. One of the most common ways Caller ID spoofing is used for spam and telemarketing scam calls is through neighbor spoofing. If you’ve ever wondered why scam calls so often have the same first 6 digits as your phone number, that’s because they’re neighbor spoofed. If your phone number is 732-227-4410, they’ll call you from 732-227-3009 to make the number look local.

What is Caller ID Spoofing?

Caller ID spoofing is the act of altering the information forwarded to your caller ID in order to hide the true origin ID. In simpler terms, caller ID spoofing allows you to display a phone number different than the actual number from which the call was placed. Oftentimes, the most important aspect of caller ID spoofing is spoofing the area code, thus giving you the ability to appear as though they’re calling from a specific location. Caller ID spoofing has been around for many years, and there are various reasons for which someone would place a spoofed call. We will take a dive into these topics, and more, in detail.

Who Uses Caller ID Spoofing?

Caller ID spoofing has numerous uses in a professional application. Mostly, it is used to protect one’s own privacy, which is a commodity rarely afforded through technology in this day and age.

Law enforcement officials and private investigators who are tasked with finding suspects, persons of interest, or missing persons, frequently use caller ID spoofing to locate these people. Oftentimes, these people rely on the support of friends and family to stay hidden, whatever their motives. Call spoofing can be used by professionals in order to appear as though they are calling these people from the numbers of their friends and family – it’s easy to ignore a call from an unknown caller ID, but anyone will answer a call from their mother or their best friend. And when they answer those calls, separate services provide their location. In these instances, caller ID spoofing makes the job of an investigator much easier.

One of the primary tasks of secret shoppers, sometimes referred to as mystery shoppers, is to conduct call center evaluations. This involves calling the customer support branch of a company with a particular set of questions, and evaluating the expertise of the customer support representatives. These calls are generally recorded and call recording is a feature found in a number of call spoofing applications, namely, SpoofCard. Mystery shoppers don’t necessarily want to make these calls using their actual number, so they use call spoofing applications to both hide their number to maintain their privacy AND to record the call to be sent to their superiors for evaluation.

Doctors and veterinarians work long hours and are commonly on call even when not at the office. Simultaneously, doctors and veterinarians value their privacy and prefer that their patients don’t have their personal contact information, for understandable reasons. Due to those reasons, spoofing services are greatly valued to these people, who can still call patients from their personal cellular phones or landlines, all while displaying the caller ID information of their office. In addition, the call recording features found on spoofing applications, such as SpoofCard, are useful to record conversations for notes and further analysis.

A teacher’s job is far from over when the bell rings at the end of the day. Teachers frequently work into the night grading papers, preparing assignments, and making calls to parents. Yet, if those teachers are at home making these calls, it is uncomfortable for them to relinquish their personal phone number to parents. Using a spoofing service, these teachers can protect their privacy by displaying the caller ID of the school, rather than their own caller ID information.

Real Estate professionals and landlords have a constant desire to compete with fellow real estate professionals and landlords, especially regarding property and rent prices. That being said, they are not usually too willing to share this information with each other, in an attempt to shield competitors from sensitive information, such as prices. With a spoofing service, a real estate professional or landlord can spoof their number to appear as though they are a potential tenant. They can then call their competitor and determine their prices as to better adjust their own. The ability to do this without revealing their true identity is quite a valuable tool to these professionals.

In addition, Caller ID Spoofing is a great way to pull a prank on a friend and have a laugh about it afterwards. It’s the perfect April Fool’s Day prank and a perfect way to pull off Howard Stern-like pranks on friends and family.

How Caller ID Spoofing Works

Outbound Caller ID can be spoofed in a number of ways. The most popular, and easiest of these methods is through VoIP (Voice-over-Internet-Protocol). VoIP is the technology that allows for voice communications to be sent over an Internet connection rather than through a phone line or cell tower. Some VoIP providers allow users to configure the number they display as the caller ID through the configuration page on their website. In spoofing services which use VoIP, the user flow is as follows: The user opens the application (web or mobile) of the spoofing provider. They enter the number they wish to call, followed by the number they wish to display. When they press ‘send’ or ‘call’, the call is sent through a VoIP service, where the outbound caller ID is changed and then connected to their desired number.

Other spoofing services use a personal identification number (PIN). Users dial a number to connect to the service and enter their PIN. Then they enter the number they wish to call and the number they want to display as their Caller ID. The call is connected and the person they call sees the caller ID they chose to display as their outbound number.

History of Caller ID Spoofing

In the 1990’s, people with a Primary Rate Interface used an Integrated Services Digital Network. This was a special digital connection to their telephone service provider which offered them the ability to change their outbound caller ID. During that time, caller ID spoofing was used primarily by law enforcement officials, private investigators and collection agencies.

In 2005, SpoofCard changed the entire caller ID spoofing landscape when it launched with more features, a better interface, and greater reliability – all at a better price than other companies in the spoofing industry.

In 2006, Paris Hilton used Caller ID spoofing to navigate her way into the voicemail of Lindsay Lohan. Since then, caller ID spoofing has been known to be used for malicious purposes, such as telemarketing, prank calls, and swatting. However, there are numerous legitimate and valuable uses of caller ID spoofing, which we’ll cover in the next section.

In addition to Caller ID Spoofing, some companies offer a short message service (SMS) or spoof texting service. This is a relatively new technology with a similar concept to caller ID spoofing – the sender is able to alter the originating number to display a different number. Once again, SpoofCard has emerged as a leader in this service, providing users the ability to send SMS messages from their desktop and display a different caller ID than their own, through SpoofText!

How to Spoof Your Caller ID (App)

Currently, the best way to Spoof your caller ID is through the SpoofCard app. Not only does SpoofCard offer the best spoofing reliability at the best price, it also offers incredibly unique features.

Record your calls

SpoofCard allows users to record their calls and download them instantly. Many professional users who have a need to spoof their calls also have a need to record them. Law enforcement professionals and private investigators record calls to collect evidence. Secret shoppers record calls for customer service evaluation purposes. Doctors and veterinarians record calls for note taking purposes and for the ability to listen to previous calls in order to more accurately evaluate a patient’s condition. Similarly, teachers and other education professionals record calls for note taking purposes.

Straight to Voicemail

Sometimes, you need to get a message to someone, but for whatever reason, cannot spend the time talking to them. SpoofCard has a feature called Straight to Voicemail, which allows users to still spoof their number, but skip directly to leaving a voicemail. Maybe you’re in a rush, but still need to pass along important information. You can use Straight to Voicemail to do so.

Voice Changer & Background Noise

SpoofCard’s voice changer is the ultimate privacy protector. When you spoof a call, it’s because you may not want the person you’re calling to know your identity. That starts with caller ID. However, the way you sound is a key part of your identity. The ability to change your voice is the next logical step in protecting your privacy on a phone call. Background Noise takes that a step further, allowing you to sound as though you’re in traffic, or at a club, airport, and more.

Group Spoofing

Group spoofing allows you to spoof call two or more numbers at once and gives you the ability to display a different outbound caller ID to each destination number. This is especially useful in legal matters, where you may have to deal with more than one party at once. Additionally, group spoofed calls can be recorded, making this the perfect tool for law enforcement professionals, lawyers or business professionals in a conference call.

How To Place an Anonymous Spoof Text

SpoofCard allows you to spoof your text messages just like you can spoof your caller ID. With SpoofCard you can anonymously make it seem like you texted from a totally different number, the person you’re texting will never know!

How to Spoof Your Caller ID for Free

Using SpoofCard, you can spoof your caller ID for free. It’s only 60 seconds for demonstration purposes, but it’s a great way to see if SpoofCard is the right tool for you. In order to do this, follow the Free Spoof Call link, enter your email address, the number you wish to call, the number you wish to display, and place your spoofed call.

Is Caller ID Spoofing Legal?

In the United States, “Under the Truth in Calling Act, FCC rules prohibit any person or entity from transmitting misleading or inaccurate Caller ID information with the intent to defraud, cause harm, or wrongly obtain anything of value. If no harm is intended or caused, spoofing is not illegal. Anyone who is illegally spoofing can face penalties of up to $10,000 for each violation. In some cases, spoofing can be permitted by courts for people who have legitimate reasons to hide their information, such as law enforcement agencies working on cases, victims of domestic abuse or doctors who wish to discuss private medical matters.”

In Canada, Caller ID spoofing is completely legal, although Canadians are plagued by corporations using spoofing for illegitimate or fraud purposes. These are unsolicited calls that go against the terms of service of most spoofing services, meaning the companies in question likely have an in-house service they use.

In the United Kingdom, the spoofed number MUST be allocated to the caller, or used with a third party’s explicit permission in order to remain legal.

Spoofing FAQ’s

Can you Spoof dial 911?

Commercial caller ID spoofing services, such as SpoofCard, do not allow users to dial 911 from their services. In addition, 911 telephone operators do not rely on typical caller ID for identifying incoming callers, they rely on Billing Telephone Numbers and Automatic Number Identification.

Can I prevent myself from receiving spoofed calls?

It is not possible to prevent oneself from receiving spoofed calls. In the case of harassment, however, there are legal actions that can be taken. Additionally, if you receive blocked, no caller ID, unknown, restricted or private calls, you can unmask and blacklist those using a service called TrapCall.

Can caller ID spoofing be traced?

Unless in extreme circumstances involving law enforcement, caller ID spoofing can NOT be traced. In these circumstances, law enforcement agencies can determine what service was used to carry out the spoofing and subpoena that service to provide information and call records on the person or persons in question.

How to protect yourself from illicit caller ID spoofing?

Understanding that caller ID can be spoofed is the first step in detecting that an incoming call can be spoofed. Many times, caller ID is spoofed for legitimate purposes, such as the ones mentioned above: doctors, lawyers, real estate professionals, teachers, law enforcement professionals, etc… Spoofing can be used for malicious purposes by scammers attempting to telemarket you or scam important information and money from you. If you get a call and the caller asks for important information, such as passwords, email addresses, bank account or credit card information, the recommended solution is to tell the caller you will call them back. Then, call the place for which they claim to represent and determine the legitimacy of their call.

Caller ID spoofing is a valuable service, used on a daily basis by millions of people around the world. Understanding what spoofing is and how it works will help you determine how call spoofing can be valuable to you.

Like the calls from 816-178-1180, the incoming call from 920-227-8985 at 1:52 PM on October 31st is a double-entry on the AT&T report and is not included in Teresa's "minutes used" history (and Kratz omitted this call from his "summary exhibit" entered into evidence). Fassbender wrote that the call was from Connie Thompson, who was "inquiring about a family portrait." The voicemail record for this caller was altered on the voicemail report. The call duration lists as 1:15 on the AT&T and Cingular reports. However, it lists as only 28 seconds on the voicemail report. The formatting for this voicemail terminating at 1:54 PM is 7 lines versus 8 for the other records, and line 6 of this record expands beyond the margins. The numbering sequence on the voicemail report for the "Msg-IDs" is out of order.

In Steven Avery's newest affidavit he states that he went to retrieve papers from his vehicle around noon on 10/31/2005 and noticed Scott's green Ford Ranger parked behind Bobby Dassey's Chevy Blazer. Steven states that about 15 minutes later Scott's truck was gone. Did Bobby leave around 12:15 PM in Scott's truck? Did Scott tell Bobby to take his truck since it was blocking the Blazer? Was Scott the person on the computer that afternoon at 1:08 PM and 1:51 PM. Did Scott Tadych make the call to Teresa at 1:51 PM using a spoofed number? Did Factbender lie in the voicemail report about the message that was left by this caller? Did Scott drive Bobby's Blazer and follow Teresa after she left the Avery property? Did he lure her back in the area by another spoofed call, the 2:41 call? Or did he lure her back via a text message?

Amy The Clairvoyant said:

Okay…so mustache man [Scott Tadych]…

He is a liar and as I stated before, a pretty obvious one.

I actually feel he knew the woman [Teresa Halbach] that was murdered too. On the telephone…speaking…like he set something up or was part of that whole thing.

I feel she was meeting someone the night she was killed, and I do feel she was killed. Not knowing a plan was hatching that she was going to be a sacrificial lamb kind of scenario? I feel like this is a huge setup. A trap. She was used. They led her like a sheep to slaughter. The whole thing being contrived as an ends to a means?

I also feel he is a witness to seeing people or cars or things that place people and objects at certain places at certain times. He also feels like he was at the crime scene.

He actually has no feelings for who this destroys. I feel he was offered something. Someone came to him and said, “It is in your best interest if this goes this way and here is why…and can we count you in?” Promises were made and some of those have to do with the positions in this family.

There is a lot of resentment towards “sad man” [Steven Avery] and a whole lot of “you don’t deserve to be still reaping the benefits…” kind of stuff. There were a lot hoping this sad man stayed gone? They were happy about him being gone? “It’s for the good of the family…name…legacy…etc.” This is what I hear him saying…trying to convince someone that they are doing the right thing.

I hear lots and lots of promises being made by two sides. Protection… “It won’t be that bad”…convincing of time periods, like… “It will just be a chunk of time…and worth it…there will be this for you” (some kind of prize or money or title) at the end of it”…

So what I am feeling when I tune into him is there is some kind of heirarchy in this family unit? There are positions and places and that has to do with money and land and power and wills, etc.

The boys in the picture. Wow. This is heartbreaking. I just feel and keep hearing “they had no choice.” There was no choice in the matter. One knew this and took his knocks (the angry one). He [Bobby Dassey] is angry at sad man. He is angry at mustache man. He is angry at the whole damn situation.

The woman in the photo [Barb], she has zero say. Zero. For her life and her own good and also to not “lose” something. That feels monetary to me. Position too.

Nova The Psychic wrote:

I won’t say that the Avery’s didn’t have a complicated family story going on. They did. The energies on their Auto Savage Shop are quite heavy and having all those old cars and things makes an accumulation of more energies coming from other people, their past stories, etc. I saw that there were a few people on Steven’s own family that – I don’t know if I could say that – hated him, were hatred about him.

As far as I can tell, the crime took place at night on October 31st, around 11PM-01AM, but the body was hidden until November 4th when it was burned on the first hours. On that Halloween, Teresa apparently took the pictures and got back in her car. While I watched her taking these pictures over an over – in different days I’ve repeated the contacts – I always felt the same thing: that there was something very wrong. And when she was in her SUV, her cell phone was a detail that catched my eye – there was something going on related to it. She seemed upset about a contact. I saw her turn the car on, and drive a little, but she had to stop: again it was something related to her phone. In one of my visions I heard her spirit saying, “I was lured back.” So she went back to somewhere.

Next thing I could see was she arguing with a man (remember: there were two men with her by the time she was killed). This man was a young one, in his 30’s, not beyond 40’s. He could be aggressive, and was a troubled person, complicated, with issues, nor regular at works, wearing this white shirt, and sometimes I saw him wearing a black leather jacket. I saw his white skin, long face, big forehead, short hair, little eyes. He was after her for sure, and she knew him. So suddenly he started to get agitated and punched her, they fought. And then I couldn’t see more until later in that night, my guess is that she got unconscious. (By the way: when I was seeing them fight, Teresa’s spirit appeared and pointed out to the man and said “It was him, he killed me!” – and I know who he is for I sensed and saw him very clearly in this vision and recognized him on Making a Murderer episodes.)

After that I saw this place which is another important detail to the case. It seemed to me like a big shelter or garage, pretty long, dark, isolated, it was kinda empty, wet, and cold. I felt her skin touching the cold floor. The building seemed to have a pointed roof, big entrance gate (sorry if this word is incorrect, I’m not a natural speaker of english). Until this time Teresa was captive, she couldn’t talk (she had a gag on her?), and her hands were tied. I heard two men talking over something. They were planning what to do with her.

From what I could understand on this scene, the other man was unknown to Teresa, and he was older, and was blackmailing and threatening the first man so he would follow his orders. This second man was older, and had this aura of importance, of a big important person, an authority. He seemed to care little over ethics and what is right, as long as he would be fine. And it seems he wasn’t fine at all! He was trying to avoid something, desperate. He seemed to me like a person with expertise, knowledge of things. I had a vision too of this man driving from behind Teresa’s car. He was following someone, watching over some place, and this all crossed his path. This is how I understood it, but I might be wrong. He wore black clothes, his hands were in his waist (like if this was a trait of his usual body language).

The idea of burning her body came from Steven’s fire pit, which was burning that night. It was so convenient! The body was removed from the place I saw and the car as well. Things then get a little confusing for me again. I only know that the body and the car were hidden for days and were related to this house, which is another important place for the case. It’s a two level house, with white or very light-colored walls. I sensed that the second man got in touch with other men, and then we had this secret alliance.

They planned everything. They had the know-how on getting rid of evidence, and messing things up, and they knew how to burn the body. The body was burned in an specialized device used for this purposes, and in a manner that some pieces of bone would remain. The car was clean and the cover-up came soon. They wanted to frame Steven. They had this strategy.

There is still evidence out there, proofs, that could point to the real criminals. The phone calls were constant noises I’d hear, and the inbox messages that were deleted from Teresa’s voice mail would have pointed out to someone (they were deleted on purpose). The stalker we see Teresa’s friend speak about on one statement is something to be checked on as well. Also, money got involved behind curtains. Finally, there were these “papers,” and a key being mentioned that was not “found” and it’s supposed to still be inside the house. There can be more things I haven’t seen, of course.

The “secret alliance” had very important figures and authorities involved, some of which we saw at the docummentary and I won’t point them out. On the backstage there were more people, and I sensed a big politician too. It seems Steven was a trouble for many of these men who didn’t want to lose their status and this scheme of trading favours, influences, and stuff.

She spoke while I was writing it all down. It reads as following: "This was the most big injustice, for they know what really happened. They found me. I was alone. They started to talk how they were gonna do it. We fought, I fell. I knew time was over for me. I never would have thought he would be capable of that. I didn’t know the other man. Time went fast. There’s so much I’d like to say, but I can’t. They won’t allow me here [the spiritual guides]. Steven didn’t do it, he’s innocent. My mother doesn’t know anything, anything at all. She’s just trying to be ok. My [I chose to censure the word] is the one to talk about. We were fighting a lot. He wouldn’t let me go. He said he’d go after me. And he did. I tried to hide. We argued. He punched me. I remember this cold floor; bloodtaste. They never found the key, but it’s in their house, with the papers. The note is true [Sikikey]. They all did it together, but they’re gonna pay, and are paying already."

In Steven Avery's 2018 affidavit he states that he went to retrieve papers from his vehicle around noon on 10/31 and noticed Scott's green Ford Ranger parked behind Bobby Dassey's Chevy Blazer. Steven states that about 15 minutes later Scott's truck was gone. Did Bobby leave to go hunting around 12:15 PM in Scott's truck? Did Scott tell Bobby to take his truck since it was blocking the Blazer (image above)? Was Scott the person on the computer that afternoon at 1:08 pm and 1:51 pm. Did he make the call to Teresa at 1:52 pm using a spoofed number? Did he call Teresa at 1:52 PM using a burner phone (the audiovox phone found by the turnaround at the East Twin River, near the old dam)? Did Factbender lie in the voicemail report about the message that was left by this caller?

Scott may have led Teresa into a trap set by the Manitowoc cabal. Perhaps he turned her over to them, and then resumed his day by driving Bobby's Blazer home. Then after Bobby is done hunting, he drives to Scott's trailer, which would explain why Blaine, on the school bus heading west on Highway 147 toward Avery Road, saw him driving a green Ford Ranger around 3:40 PM, heading east on highway 147, toward Scott's home at 12764 Highway 147 (1.8 miles from 12932 Avery Road). Then Scott follows Bobby to his home on Avery Road, with his fresh deer kill still in the bed of Scott's truck, and helps him unload the deer and hang it in the garage. Then he goes back home and returns later to Avery Road to pick up Barb to go to the hospital. Or he simply arranges for alibis from Barb, and he never went to the hospital at all that day.

The Men in Teresa Halbach's Life

The men in Teresa Marie Halbach's life in 2005: Ryan Hillegas, Chris McKenna, Bradley Czech, Scott Bloedorn and Wesley Bunnell (photos circa 2015).

And then there is Ken.

Ran across something today and can't shake it....

Where to even begin?! here goes....

This has to do with a chance meetings via myspace and many other variables that I am very hesitant to disclose but will anyway in an effort for this to make sense.

1st things first. Have you ever just had one of those gut feelings that just will not go away? Do you believe in things happening for a reason? Do you believe that there is no such thing as luck or chance? Have you ever thought that YOU just might be the one that holds the key to something?

Timeframe (late 1990's) I was asked to become a member of the Manitowoc County Deputies and Constables Association. As a member of this organization we attended meetings and some of us joined another interior organization to this one where you were sworn and eventually after training etc became what was known as the 'Possy'. Didn't really do much other than guard the water at local events but it was cool being asked and we were able to carry way before that became law.

During this tenure (until 2007 when Hermann took over) I can count on one hand how many of these events we actually helped with.

One evening however I got a call about midnight by another Possy member to relieve him on the corner out near Avery's (about 2 miles away I am not going to disclose which one sorry) The only instruction I was given was NO ONE comes in or out of this intersection. This was Nov 7th if my recollection serves me. This 6 hour shift went on without issue.

During this roughly 8 or so years I obviously got to know most of the players in this debacle.

In 2005 my divorce began - no relation to this - but suffice to say in mid 2007 it was finally over.

This is when I put myself out there via myspace (LOL I know) and within a short period of time I had met this younger lady whom I chatted with often and eventually met up with.

What is funny is that we both used our middle names as introduction while chatting and didn't realize each others REAL names until we actually met in person.

The courtship was very brief as she had a SEVERE drinking and maybe even drug problem she was in her late 20's, I was in my late thirties and this lifestyle so to speak didn't fit me at all. Our first date was me meeting her at her house where she was living after her estranged husband moved out. This was on Kuss Road.

Being that I live in Manitowoc County and have for a LONG time when this case started in 2005 I can tell you that most people including myself felt Avery was guilty story over. Many of us also thought something was just off about this whole case on how quickly this happened and how lock stock and barrel they had Avery. It was just too convenient with the court case and all.....that's all I can really say about that. We had our doubts but it just sort of went away.

So now MAM happens! Kuss Road eventually came to light when all of us starting sorting through the CASO and MCSO files and realized without any doubt at all SOMETHING went down there.

Most recently I saw post where there is a fucking blanket under a tree covering something right across the street from where I met this woman for the first time.

I posted about this in a very obscure fashion a couple years ago that the person I met had the same last name as a DCI agent. Did some digging and her ex husband and this DCI agent might actually be brothers. For sure related. The ex husband as well as this woman I met both had Military Police background and he to this day is still practicing security. They have both went on to marry others, he married a Manitowoc Police officer and she a Fire and safety expert! WTF!!!!

This couple and TH were all about the same age and I can attest most likely the same type of lifestyle. Could they have met at some point and some photography was setup? TH was clearly able to carry on with married men without issue so was she perhaps into a scene that was hidden from us for a reason? Did she maybe have an affair (this couples divorce started in mid 2006 from what I can remember. So during this affair and later murder investigation ultimately tear them apart? I know how fucked up she was with the drinking and so forth.....I just don't know....! Scary as it is I might have briefly dated a murderer!

What if TH and JKS (I will not disclose any more than initials) had an affair and she (BAS) got jealous and maybe had TH come over for some more porn photos? things heated up and in the heat of the moment a tire iron to the head and the rest is history! Could her husband have reached out to his DCI agent family member as to what to do? They have a dead woman across the street shallow grave maybe. I never believed the bones were hers anyway so maybe she never was burned and this is just a rouse to keep us off track? Did they recover a body and quietly gave to the Halbachs for a private burial?

Today I am on the GZ blog site and ran across my Reddit post referenced there (didn't even know it was there) and I see this photo of an email taken off TH's computer (an email from about a month before TH disappeared):

That would be her estranged husband's middle name (Ken)! Sound familiar? I don't think this habit is all that uncommon at all. We did it and it appears if my hunch is right so did they!

I just don't know anymore......I can't get on the BoD ST thing. With how small this area actually is and people pretty much knowing everyone its entirely possible that RH's involvement is ONLY as a friend to maybe this couple as well as the couples family member!

Sorry for the long repetitive post but I just can't shake this.....

More oddities to consider.....

HE is a big cowboyish kind of guy now. I didn't get that from the timeframe in the 2005 era.....Didn't TH dress as a Cowgirl? He married a Manitowoc City Police officer. OR she became one after the fact not 100% sure.

SHE married a Fire EXPERT! WTF??!!!

NEITHER of them have much of a social profile at ALL and have 100% disassociated themselves from the DCI agents last name.....far as I am concerned this might be the most damning thing there is!

Am I crazy to think this way?

JKS = Joshua Kenneth Sasse (image above)
BAS = Brenda Ann Sasse

The email leads me to believe they had a thing, repeated 'i miss you'.

Was she doing porno shoots for them? It links her to Kuss Rd.

[–]localtruther[S]

Careful....it might lead her to Kuss rd. Even if this email isnt from the right person....the way things always work for me is I notice shit like this all the time. This email indicates TH most CERTAINLY had a second darker life. We saw almost nothing from her computer and phone. Maybe the real correspondence hasn't been seen, but is known.

[–]rickardsvil

I went back and double checked the audiobook. This email is used in the second chapter of John Ferak's Wrecking Crew. He almost definitely tried to identify the author of this email. Maybe you could reach out to him. He's on Twitter.

"Dedering talked to Kenneth on the phone on 10/12. Kenneth knew Teresa since High School. They were close in college. He lived with her for 6 months after the Peace Corps in February 2005. Teresa never mentioned an abusive relationship to him. He said they were very close but not romantically involved. He met RYAN HILLEGAS 3 or 4 times and thought he was 'fine'. He said Ryan was one of her earliest boyfriends. Kenneth said Teresa never said anything negative about Ryan. Kenneth didn’t know about Teresa’s key or if she had a remote to open the doors. He doesn’t recall any damage to the RAV4."

It appears there were 3 pages out of order. The bottom of the page BEFORE that email lists "KENNETH HOWEN".

[–]WhoooIsReading

Kenneth didn’t know about Teresa’s key or if she had a remote to open the doors. He doesn’t recall any damage to the RAV4.

So the award winning investigators waited until 2017 to ask a friend about Ryan's bogus claim of damage to the RAV4?

[–]defmagic[S]

AFTER MaM part 1....

[–]WhoooIsReading

That's one thing MAM didn't leave out.

Too bad it took 12 years for LE to ask one of the many questions they failed to ask in 2005.

Now Ken Kratz can add this fact to his book....

[–]kookaburrakook

Do you know where they lived in that 6 months ?

[–]idunno_why

In the same house she lived in when she disappeared. He would have been living there until about July 2005 if he moved in after leaving the peace corps in February and stayed for 6 months.

[–]kent3334

Question. Did the guy that told LE a girl (he believed was TH) came to his door looking for help, live on Kuss Rd.?

[–]localtruther[S]

Right across the street (see image above)!

On 11/5/2005, a resident named Leo Richmond, who lives at 4201 Kuss Road, called in a tip to CASO about Teresa Halbach knocking on his door the night before (11:30 PM on Friday, 11/4). Leo said that Teresa was looking for a home in his area. Wiegert dismissed the tip and said he would call back later; however, there isn't a follow-up report in the CASO file.

Directly across the street from Leo's home at 4201 Kuss Road, and off the road a bit, is 4130 Kuss Road. At the time of Teresa's disappearance, the home was owned and occupied by a young couple, Joshua and Brenda Sasse. One of the DCI investigators on the case (DCI Appleton field office), Michael C Sasse (CASO page 518), is a close relative to Joshua Sasse.

Hundred thousand reasons! Seriously when I saw that email and the name signed....I was like fuck....what if I AM the missing piece? Like I stated above...at my age shit like happens and only with past experience NOT taken and you would have been the winner, do you realize how seemingly innocent unrelated life experience just happens!

[–]axollot

Whole point of the award is to have people consider connections and motivation to explain em.

Yours might be the one. It may not...but it has a truth to it hard to shake.

You'll never know for certain till you unravel that thread!

[–]Tris-Von-Q

I don't think you are crazy at all. With how little we actually know about Theresa's private life--anything is possible. And I too can't get on board with BoD and ST as the perps wagon either. I think they were involved in sending SA away for good out of jealousy but not Theresa's murder. I'm just not feeling it.

This however is highly suspect. I hope you are able to work with it more. There's got to be more out there with this lead.

Have you gone to KZ?

[–]localtruther[S]

Who is KZ? 🀣 kidding. No I have not

[–]Tris-Von-Q

Unfortunately I wouldn't even know how to advise you to move forward on this hunch. I wouldn't know where to start digging. Just be careful when digging in gardens of the county in which you live. SA's tale is a warning--was always meant to be a warning--to any local dissenters.

[–]localtruther[S]

You are correct! Point taken.

[–]Tris-Von-Q

To be honest, I find that email unsettling. The casual discussion of a gift of porn? It's just...weird to me.

WTF was this chick into?

[–]rickardsvil

Contacting KZ was the first thing that came to my mind as well. This could be nothing, but it also could be the one thing that finally brings some light to what happened to TH. Best of luck to you.

[–]SBRH33

From what I know now this post is important.

[–]PetrichorGirl

This Possy assignment when you were asked to relieve someone and guard an intersection near Avery’s... are you saying that was on/around Nov 7th 2005?

[–]localtruther[S]

That's what I am saying

[–]PetrichorGirl

Thanks. So that was after TH’s car had been found at Avery’s and there were cops everywhere. Was it MTSO instructing you?

[–]localtruther[S]

Dont know....all I knew is another member called me to relieve him....far as I know he made that call.

[–]reader_wny

I remember your post, glad you add this information. I think TH sent nude pictures of herself to him, to me it sounds like they were involved sexually. Her sending him messages on this beeper/pager, he misses her, she takes good care of him, definitely sounds like they were involved. The fact she shut her phone off about the time she came to Kuss Rd turnoff. This could explain the H family's odd behavior. I think you may have the 100k solution. Excellent post! Were there goodies in the form of "Pot Brownies"?

[–]MnAtty

I've always felt Teresa's family was being manipulated, based on some fear they had about her reputation. There was just too much touting of what a "good girl" she was. Coached volleyball. Um, who cares?

So it has always been the prosecution's over-emphasis on Teresa's reputation, that has concerned me. It's as though the prosecutors are heralding their role as her protectors. "We'll defend your daughter against the terrible rumors." There's almost a veiled threat of how ugly it could get without their protection.

FURTHER COMMENT: To make the point more clear, I've wondered why there was no celebration of who Teresa was as an artist. I've read references to how gifted she was as a photographer. So where is the memorial exhibit? It's almost as though this was a topic of shame, rather than pride.

Instead, they emphasized a minor activity, volunteering a few afternoons a week, during volleyball season. It feels like they focused on it because it was a generally wholesome topic. But it seems almost impersonal. It had little to do with her actual life.

[–]s_wardy_s[S]

You're right about the photography. She graduated with honours as top of the class, and we've never seen a frigging picture she took other than a few average shots of cars for AutoTrader that quite frankly, anyone could have taken. Where is the celebration of her art?

[–]PetrichorGirl

The Kuss Rd resident who rang police said she knocked on his door on 11/4. That’s after she was officially reported missing by her mother on 11/3. If it was TH looking for a party, I wonder what she had been doing for 4 days since 10/31?

There were multiple sightings of Teresa after 10/31/05 (sightings 11/1/05-11/8/05):
  1. Anna Knutsen of Valders says she saw Teresa taking pictures of cows on Madson Road, “literally kitty corner” to Trinity Lutheran Church at 11303 Wehausen Rd, Manitowoc, on the morning of November 1st, around 8:35 a.m.
  2. Barbara Linsmeyer says she saw Teresa in a white van with two men on the side of the road by the turnaround on highway 147 (around 23-minute mark in MTSO dispatch audio).
  3. Gary Ebert saw Teresa sitting next to a man, who was about 15 years older than her, on the ferry from Washington Island at 5 p.m. on November 4th (they didn't look like a likely couple to him, and she looked almost scared and appeared to be falling to sleep (around 29-minute mark in CASO dispatch audio).
  4. Leo Richmond of Kuss Road says Teresa knocked on his door at midnight on November 4th looking for a home in his area.
  5. A tip called in on November 7th from a teacher at Hilbert High School, who was told by a student that, when the McGlone family was distributing missing persons posters at a gas station in Sheboygan yesterday, November 6th, a person standing in line there said they had seen Teresa in Sheboygan the day before, November 5th.
  6. Two sightings of Teresa in Sheboygan with a black man on around midnight November 5-6th (one sighting in Walmart, another sighting in a white van at Taco Bell).
  7. Bill Crummel left a message on the police department's voicemail on November 8th saying he saw Teresa in a bar/restaurant (with a tree on its sign) on Lakeshore Drive and County Road Xx in Cleveland.

Two people from Sheboygan call CASO dispatch. The first caller at 6:30 p.m. on 11/5 says she saw Teresa with a black man following her into Sheboygan Walmart. The second caller at midnight says he saw Teresa at a Sheboygan Taco Bell, in a white van, with a black man next to her in the van.
Another potential witness, Barbara Linsmeyer, came forward, referencing a white van (at 16:27 and around 23-minute mark in MTSO dispatch audio). Barbara claims that she too physically witnessed Teresa. She stated that she saw Teresa on the shoulder side of the road, at the turnaround on highway 147, inside a white van/SUV with the hazard lights on. She said she could see her through the driver's side door, and was almost certain it was her. She also claims that Teresa was not alone and that there were two other occupants inside the vehicle with her (two men). Barbara contacted police and reported this information, but when she called she had only spoken with dispatch. She seemed sincere and concerned for this woman's safety, whoever it was, whether it was Teresa or not. Police never contacted her back at all.

Ryan may have seen Teresa on and after October 31st because he had her day planner page that should have been in her RAV4 (he turned it over to detectives on November 3rd).

Then there's the fact that everyone seemed to have advanced knowledge of her death (Mike Halbach deleted some of Teresa's voicemail messages on November 2nd, before she was reported missing, and her missing persons poster was created on November 2nd). The Halbach family appointed Mike Halbach to be spokesperson. Therefore, anything he says is coming from the family. If not, they would categorically deny he speak for them. Thus, Mike is the Halbach family. They are smart and not saying anything. Why? Because they are in this deeper than people realize.

CASO Investigative Report, Page 518
TYPE OF ACTIVITY: Interview of Bobby Dassey
DATE OF ACTIVITY: 02/27/06
REPORTING OFFICER: Inv. John Dedering

On Monday, 02/27/06 at 1126 hrs., various members of the WISCONSIN DEPT. OF CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION and the CALUMET CO. SHERIFF's DEPT. did meet at MISHICOT FIRE DEPT. The purpose of our meeting was to view a videotaped interview done by Special Agent TOM FASSBENDER and Inv. MARK WIEGERT on a subject named BRENDAN R. DASSEY on 02/27/06. According to information I had obtained from WIEGERT, DASSEY had made some statements with regard to STEVEN AVERY's disposal of TERESA HALBACH, as well as who was responsible for her death. While waiting for other members of the interview team to arrive, I did assist Inv. BALDWN with an interview of BARBARA JANDA. For details of this, please see the report of Inv. BALDWIN.

Special Agent MICHAEL SASSE and I did locate BOBBY DASSEY at the residence of DUANE OSMUNSON, 5017 Nuclear Rd. in the Mishicot area at 1955 hrs. SASSE and I asked BOBBY DASSEY if he had some time to speak with us and he indicated that he did. We then went out to the county vehicle, which I was operating, and BOBBY DASSEY did have a seat in the front passenger side and Special Agent SASSE climbed into the rear passenger side. Prior to asking DASSEY any questions, he was advised that he was not under arrest, did not have to answer questions if he chose not to and was free to leave at anytime he so wished. I asked him to open the passenger front door of the vehicle in order to demonstrate to him that he was perfectly free to leave. He understood this and agreed to answer questions.

We went over his activities to the best of his recollection on Monday, 10/31/05. He stated that he arrived home from work at approximately 0630 hrs (It should be noted that DASSEY was employed at FISHER HAMILTON in Two Rivers at this time) and went to bed. He stated that he got up between 1400 and 1430 hrs., got into the shower and went bow hunting. He stated he arrived home somewhere approximately 1730 hrs. and that it was dark out already. He stated he did not recall who was home when he arrived, but thought perhaps BRENDAN was. He stated that when he arrived home, he went straight to bed and did not eat. He stated he got up at approximately 2100 hrs., got ready for work and once again did not eat. He stated that to the best of his recollection, BLAINE was home and possibly BRENDAN as well. He stated that his other brother BRYAN was not at home and was possibly at his girlfriend's residence.

BOBBY indicated that when he was leaving for work at approximately 2130 hrs., he noticed that STEVEN was having a bonfire. He estimated that the flames were five to six feet in height. He stated that it was a good-sized fire and that STEVEN has had fires there in the past. He stated that he could not say for sure that STEVEN was tending to the fire and he was further unsure whether BRENDAN was there or not. He stated that the view from his residence to the fire pit is somewhat blocked by the garage of STEVEN AVERY. He stated that he worked from 2200 hrs. until 0600 hrs. the following day and when he arrived home, he noticed nothing unusual and that the fire was out.

I asked BOBBY if his brother, BRENDAN, was one to lie about things and he stated that BRENDAN would possibly lie about little things. I asked him if BRENDAN would lie about anything concerning the HALBACH murder investigation, and he stated that he would not lie about this. I asked BOBBY if he has noticed any changes in BRENDAN and his response was "not really." When I asked him if BRENDAN has been depressed recently, he stated that he was a little depressed. BOBBY indicated that BRENDAN has not discussed anything regarding what he may have seen in the fire pit on 10/31/05 or what STEVEN may have told BRENDAN. BOBBY indicated that his brother, BRENDAN, likes to play basketball games and racing games on their Playstation 2. He states that he does not play with others, but prefers to compete by himself on the machine.

I asked BOBBY if he could recall once again what he saw regarding TERESA HALBACH and her vehicle. He stated that while he was preparing to go bow hunting on 10/31/05, he observed TERESA's vehicle pull in and he observed TERESA get out and take one or two photos of the maroon van, which his mother had for sale. BOBBY said that this was prior to him getting into the shower. He stated that when he got out of the shower (approximately ten minutes later) he brought his bow out to the vehicle and TERESA's vehicle was still there but he did not see her. He stated that she was wearing a black coat, black trousers and he cannot recall what color her top was. DASSEY drew me a diagram indicating that the HALBACH vehicle was pointed in a westerly direction almost directly across from the westernmost portion of the BARBARA JANDA circular driveway. BOBBY stated that the vehicle was gone when he got back from hunting.

I asked BOBBY about the position of the Suzuki Samurai. BOBBY thought that to his best recollection, the Suzuki was in the garage for a while, and he was unsure when STEVEN moved it out of the garage. He stated that he was never in the garage when the Suzuki was parked in the garage and he stated that he could no longer independently recall where the Suzuki was positioned when he left for hunting.

I asked BOBBY DASSEY who his brother, BRENDAN, might confide in and he indicated the only person he could think of was BRENDAN's friend, TRAVIS FABIAN, whose father, ROBERT FABIAN, is a friend of EARL AVERY.

I asked BOBBY if he could recall the burn barrel in front of STEVEN's residence burning when he left for hunting, and he stated he could not independently recall this. Agent SASSE asked BOBBY DASSEY if he could ever recall STEVEN AVERY shooting a .22 at the burn barrel or anything else in the immediate vicinity of STEVEN AVERY's residence. BOBBY indicated he could not recall anything like this except for one occasion. SASSE asked DASSEY if he could recall STEVEN AVERY in possession of a buck knife or a leatherman and BOBBY DASSEY could not recall that.

BOBBY DASSEY indicated that he doesn't recall BRENDAN or STEVEN acting any differently after the October 31st. incident. He further indicated he could not recall any sort of injury to STEVEN's arms or hands on October 31st.

Investigation continues.

A poster wrote the following on the MaM subreddit two years ago:
Most people that get murdered know their killers. It doesn't have to be dramatic to the everyday onlooker or to someone on the outside looking in -- but in the killer's mind, something just sets them off. It could be the smallest of things, the straw that breaks the camel's back, or something in and of itself, that just quickly escalates into a furious rage.

I am really, really bothered by the Halloween party timeline. No one is really talking much about it -- but what happened in the few days prior to her disappearance (i.e. the Halloween party or parties she attended and who saw her, etc.) is not being discussed.

I know how passions and jealousies flare up between ex-bfs and ex-gfs around Halloween when you're in your 20's, because you usually go with a date and/or dress up.

I can see someone who's been pushed to the edge of powerlessness losing their sense of identity, and much more importantly, losing their grasp on the value of the life behind the face of someone he or she is obsessed with. That face, for that fleeting moment of rage, becomes a mask that can be wiped away. When reality sets back in, blood is on their hands.
The last time RyanH ever saw Teresa alive:

At Avery's trial, in 2007, RyanH testified that he remembered Teresa was sitting at her computer when they last talked, but he couldn't say whether it was morning, afternoon, or night. RyanH testified that his last conversation with Teresa was "about the cowgirl outfit she planned to wear on Halloween night."

A year earlier, in 2006, RyanH told a reporter from Milwaukee Magazine that the last time he saw Teresa she was dressed as a cowgirl.

Were there Halloween parties on both 10/29 and 10/31? Did Aubrey Wygralak see Teresa on 10/31 at a Halloween party, where she was dressed as a cowgirl, or was it 10/29, or was it both? Did the Herald Times Reporter misreport the day as 10/21 and it actually was 10/31 when Aubrey last saw Teresa, dressed as a cowgirl for Halloween?
"Wygralak last saw her at a Halloween party Oct. 21, which Halbach attended dressed as a cowgirl, and she planned to see her Saturday when the two were to throw a surprise party for two friends in Green Bay. Instead, Wygralak spent the day helping friends search for some sign of Halbach. [Herald News Reporter, November 9, 2005]

Newsweek reported in March 2016:
Zellner says there are many glaring examples of investigators failing to look past Avery at other suspects. For example, two days before her murder, about 15 minutes before midnight, Halbach made two calls to a phone number that belonged to a man recently charged with sex crimes in Arizona, records show. "A well-trained investigator, they’d be all over that. And they would have gone and talked to [that man], and they would have interviewed these other people that she’s talking to right before her death," Zellner says. "She’s like prey being stalked, and that’s [the most likely type of] person who would have been after her."

If Ryan Hillegas did it, it seems the trigger probably was the very fact that Teresa was supposed to be going to a party, dressed as a cowgirl. Also, her roommate Scott mentioned she might have met some guy recently, and Scott surely shared this with Ryan.
Teresa Halbach was at a private home in Green Bay for a family portrait at 4 PM on Saturday, 10/29/2005, per CASO dispatch call on 11/9.
Teresa was in her studio on 10/29, per Tom Pearce. Teresa may have gone to her studio in Green Bay before or after this photo shoot.

In Mike Halbach's testimony (page 188) he says Teresa helped him on his first wedding video job on 10/29.

MikeH said the 10/29 wedding was a friend's wedding.

MikeH testified that the wedding was in the "early evening" of  10/29, and that Teresa would have attended the Halloween party "later on in the night."

Did Teresa Halbach bump into Chris McKenna at the 10/29 wedding (the teacher and girls track coach who moved from Wisconsin to Arizona around 2008, and who currently is incarcerated in Arizona for having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student).

Did Teresa (Hilbert High School class of 1998) bump into ChrisM (Hilbert High School class of 1996) at the 10/29 wedding, and did this result in her late night calls to him on 10/29?

There was a rumor about a rumble over Teresa at a Halloween party, which Aubrey Wyralak attended (she is Teresa's friend and the sister-in-law of Alex Quadrini, who called Teresa at 12:31 PM on 11/1 and left a message "regarding a  family picture").

The rumor started with a comment from Linda at Daniel Luke's website, overthrow.us, which he has since taken down, but I saved part of the comment before the website went offline:
Linda September 28, 2016 7:38 am
I would like to point out that Teresa would be going to this Halloween party with a new guy friend Bradley and MH is the one who made a point to tell this to RH and believe he knew this would make RH furious. It made RH obsessed with it before he even got there. It was said that Bradley was confronted by RH with aggression and RH called him out and wanted to fight him. Actually his anger was really aimed toward Teresa as though Teresa was cheating on him. This of course wouldn’t be true, but not in his head in wouldn’t be. I think RH was so jealous and in a rage to the point of out of control.
It appears from the CASO report that Brad Czech was not at the 10/29 wedding: in his interview with law enforcement on 11/4, he said that the last time he saw Teresa was two weeks earlier, when they met for lunch in Green Bay (pages 45-47 of CASO report).

RyanS started calling Teresa in August 2005, maybe to confirm details of a family wedding for Teresa to photograph and for Mike to videotape on 10/29 (not RyanS's wedding -- he got married in January 2001 -- but another family member -- Ryan's wife was from Sheybogan, where Teresa may have spent the morning and early afternoon of 10/31).

The calls between RyanS and Teresa were:

8/17 Teresa calls RyanS (15:06)
8/31 Teresa calls RyanS (:35)
9/1 Teresa calls RyanS (:46)
10/7 RyanS called Teresa (:49)
10/7 Teresa returned RyanS's call (:21)
10/10 RyanS calls Teresa (:46)
10/10 Teresa returns RyanS's call (8:40)
10/25 Teresa calls RyanS (1:45)
10/27 Teresa calls RyanS (:40)

RyanS's family owns and runs a farm in Hilbert, just like the Halbach family.

One of TimH's law partners is TroyS, who is RyanS's brother.

RyanS (who Teresa talked to about 10 times in the three months leading up to the wedding) and ChrisM were in the same class at Hilbert High School (class of 1996). Tim Halbach also may have been in HHS class of 1996.

TimH was/is facebook friends with ChrisM's brother Matthew, who is two years older than ChrisM, RyanS and TimH.

Teresa and RyanH (class of 1998) went to Hilbert High School with ChrisM and RyanS, although ChrisM and RyanS (class of 1996) were two years ahead of them. Teresa, RyanH and ChrisM were student athletes.

RyanH and ChrisM also went to the same college (University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh) and attended a few of the same years.

So there are connections between the Halbach family and the families of ChrisM and RyanS, and there are connections between RyanH and ChrisM.

RyanS, ChrisM, and TimH (and others from HHS) very well could have been guests at the wedding on 10/29, the wedding of a friend that Teresa photographed and MikeH videotaped.

Around 9:30 PM on 10/29, Teresa called her brother Tim, maybe to ask him for ChrisM's number.

Teresa called ChrisM twice on 10/29, just before midnight, per the Cingular report entered into evidence.

Did something happen at the wedding or Halloween party on 10/29 that created tension between Teresa and RyanH?

Was RyanH at the wedding on 10/29 or did he hear about it from others?

Was RyanH at the Halloween party on 10/29 or did he hear about it from others?

The following are RyanH's phone calls on 10/29 (he was up late the night before, Friday 10/28, and was making calls into the early morning hours of Saturday 10/29):

10/29 1:53 AM, Appleton, 2199, duration 1-2 minutes
10/29 3:18 AM, Oshkosh, 0386, duration less than 1 minute
10/29 3:21 AM, Fond Du Lac, 4189, duration less than 1 minute
10/29 11:38 AM, Oshkosh, 0386, duration 1-2 minutes
10/29 11:42 AM, Appleton, 9125, duration less than 1 minute
10/29 11:47 AM, Incoming, 0386, duration 1-2 minutes
10/29 12:07 PM, Appleton, 2199, duration less than 1 minute
10/29 12:08 PM, Stevens Pt, 6760, duration 11-12 minutes
10/29 1:32 PM, Appleton, 2199, duration 4-5 minutes
10/29 1:37 PM, Appleton, Sister or Brother-in-law, duration 4-5 minutes
10/29 2:39 PM, Incoming, ScottB, duration 6-7 minutes
10/29 2:54 PM, Incoming, 2632, duration 4-5 minutes
10/29 4:54 PM, Oshkosh, 0386, duration less than 1 minute
10/29 4:55 PM, Oshkosh, 0386, duration less than 1 minute
10/29 4:56 PM, Incoming, 0386, duration less than 1 minute
10/29 5:12 PM, Incoming, 2199, duration 2-3 minutes
10/29 6:44 PM, Appleton, 2199, duration 1-2 minutes
10/29 8:10 PM, Appleton, 2199, duation 2-3 minutes
10/29 8:24 PM, Appleton, 2199, duration less than 1 minute
10/29 8:25 PM, Incoming, 2199, duration 1-2 minutes
10/29 11:48 PM, Appleton, Sister or Brother-in-law, duration 1-2 minutes

The next day, the last day RyanH claims to have seen Teresa, he had very little phone activity:

10/30 1:26 PM, ScottB, duration less than 1 minute
10/30 1:35 PM, Incoming, ScottB, duration 1-2 minutes
10/30 3:30 PM, Kaukauna, 6810, duration less than 1 minute

Teresa's roommate and RyanH's good friend, Scott Bloedorn (Scott also went to HHS, class of 1998, where he too was a student athlete), told Wiegert that the "last time he talked to Teresa was around 2 PM on Sunday 10/30."

The 911 call placed by Karen Halbach at 2:52 PM on November 3, 2005, was requested in March 2018 by FOIA. Click here for the audio and transcript. Karen told the dispatcher that Teresa's roommate Scott Bloedorn saw Teresa at home on Monday, October 31, 2005. Therefore, either Scott lied or Wiegert's report was falsified.

Did RyanH find out that Teresa had hooked up with ChrisM over the weekend (Teresa called ChrisM twice just before midnight on 10/29)?

Could ChrisM be the "new guy" that Teresa met over the weekend, a possibility that ScottB mentioned to Wiegert?
I asked SCOTT if TERESA had a boyfriend to which SCOTT stated she did not. SCOTT has lived with TERESA for approximately eight or nine months. He did state to me he does not remember TERESA ever being gone overright; and her not being there since Monday, is very out of character for her. He also stated he noticed on Tuesday TERESA's truck was also not anywhere to be found at the house. I asked SCOTT what he thinks might have happened to which SCOTT states he really does not know, he just knows that this is out of character. He was thinking that maybe she had met a guy when she was out over the weekend; however, she did not mention that when he last spoke with her. SCOTT did tell me that he was aware that on Saturday night, TERESA had been at a Halloween party in Green Bay. He also stated TERESA hangs out in Green Bay a lot and has a lot of friends from Green Bay.
Teresa discussed the 10/29 Halloween party with ScottB sometime prior to 2 PM on 10/30, per the CASO report.
SCOTT states he had talked to TERESA last on Sunday afternoon, 10/30/05, at about 2:00 p.m. I asked him what they had talked about, to which SCOTT stated they talked about the Halloween parties they had both attended over the weekend. I asked SCOTT if she had talked about what she was going to be doing on Halloween, the 31st, to which SCOTT stated she did not mention anything to him. SCOTT states they are just roommates and they do not check in with each other and only talk if they happen to meet each other in the house. He states they basically both live their own lives out of that house.
What part of his conversation with Teresa about "parties over the weekend" did ScottB share with RyanH?
